Xsigo Helps Bluelock Optimize its VMware Cloud Services Capabilities
April 26, 2011
One of the leaders in I/O virtualization, Xsigo Systems, Inc. recently announced that Bluelock has chosen to implement its Xsigo virtual I/O in their VMware vCloud services data center. Bluelock is an experienced provider of Virtual Datacenters hosted in the public cloud and with this implementation has successfully managed to boost its scalability with 8X greater virtual machine capacity and also significantly reduce its infrastructure hardware requirements by 80%. This has helped the company to provide better service levels, faster response time and better overall economies.
In a release, Aaron Branham, director of information technology at Bluelock said that "Bluelock's clients require quickly scalable services to meet their most demanding application needs. Because of this, we wanted a flexible, converged infrastructure that would both increase efficiency and help us to deliver the industry's most responsive service. With Xsigo virtual I/O now in place, the results speak for themselves: our clients have been very impressed with the performance of their Virtual Datacenters and we've been able to further build our business by quickly accommodating even the most demanding workloads."
Branham went on to say that "With our previous infrastructure, we needed 50 networking devices for every 500 virtual machines. With Xsigo, we can accommodate 8x the workload with just 10 network devices. Furthermore, we get 40X more bandwidth to each server and can now make configuration changes in seconds rather than hours or days."
Some of the other benefits that Bluelock received from Xsigo virtual I/O include 40 times more usable bandwidth per server, 97.5 percent reduction in network devices, Eight times greater virtual machine capacity, 17 times more VMs per hardware device, 66 percent less cabling
Real time performance monitoring of virtual NICs and virtual HBAs; and improved power consumption and uptime.
Lloyd Carney, CEO of Xsigo Systems said that "We are thrilled that Bluelock has selected Xsigo as the backbone of their highly-successful VMware-certified Virtual Datacenter service offering. Xsigo virtual I/O provides the ideal platform for on-demand services, delivering the performance and flexibility needed for Bluelock and their clients to fully capitalize on the business benefits of the cloud."
