Appian Driving Cloud Adoption with BPM Platform-as-a-Service Offering
June 06, 2011
Appian, a provider of cloud-based business process management software (BPM), announced that it continues to lead the industry in customer adoption and technology capabilities. The company provides a BPM Platform-as-a-Service solution and was cited as setting “the bar for BPM in the cloud” in Gartner's (News
- Alert) “Magic Quadrant for Business Process Management Suites” report from October 2010.
The company announced that new enhancements to its Appian Cloud offering have driven customer adoption, and Appian experienced its most successful quarter in Q1 2011, with 42 percent of new software orders for cloud deployment. The company's second quarter is pushing toward 50 percent of software sales from the Appian Cloud.
The Appian Cloud solution enables easy migration of BPM applications between cloud and on-premise environments. The company also offers several industry-specific and SaaS (News
- Alert) applications to complement its platform offering, many available as free downloads from the Appian Forum community.
New features include mobile BPM and a social business interface, Appian Tempo, which are available automatically to Cloud customers who have upgraded to new versions of the Appian BPM Suite. The solution also enables a secure VPN connection, private-labeled applications and expanded global data center options which include cloud hosting in two U.S. locations, the UK and Asia.
A number of companies have already implemented Appian Cloud including Bard, AIG, Starbucks, Manulife Financial, Bupa, Clayton Holdings and the U.S. Department of Education. The Education Department is using the solution for its Civil Rights Data Collection Process and was cited in CIO Magazine as a success for the Obama Administration's “Cloud First” policy.
“Appian was the first vendor to offer a complete BPM suite in the cloud, and since that time we have continued to set the bar for cloud BPM innovation,” said Matthew Calkins, president and CEO of Appian. “The value proposition and full-featured capabilities of Appian Cloud cannot be matched by any competitive offering, and that is why we are seeing such an explosion of interest from the market.”
