Meraki Expands MX Cloud Managed Security Appliances Family

January 24, 2012

Meraki recently announced the launch of its MS series cloud managed switches along with five new models for its MX series cloud managed security appliances family, which will now also feature WAN optimization capabilities. Enterprises will be able to deploy 100 percent cloud managed networks by leveraging these products along with cloud managed wireless LAN,  thereby increasing their visibility and control as well as reducing the cost and intricacies that arise from deploying outdated systems.

In a release, Kiren Sekar, V.P. of Marketing at Meraki, said, “As iPads and web applications increase the demands placed on networks, organisations are increasingly turning to cloud managed solutions to streamline their infrastructure. We are thrilled that Peet’s selected Meraki for their next generation network, and we look forward to delivering an excellent experience to their IT staff, employees, and customers.”

The company also announced that its MX series security appliances and wireless LAN have been selected by Peet Coffee & Tea, a speciality coffee chain, for deployment at 193 of its locations. Steve Shead, IT Director at Peet’s, said, “The MX provides incredible visibility and control across our highly-distributed network. The MX has improved our manageability, reliability, and performance.”

The Meraki MS Cloud Managed Switches come in four models and incorporate increased visibility and control to Gigabit Ethernet access switches capability in addition to offering a plug and play deployment to customers. Another enhancement is the "Virtual Stacking" capability which offers customers centralized management of large number of switch ports. Among other benefits provided by the Meraki MS Cloud Managed Switches is the option for easy deployment on campus or for distributed deployments, a web-based centralized management featuring automatic monitoring and alerts as well as non-blocking Gigabit switching with PoE for all ports and ability to provide 10 Gb uplinks to support stacking and high speed core connectivity.
