Data Center Management and Operations 'Stamp of Approval' Awarded to Equinix
February 03, 2012
Equinix (News
- Alert), Inc. is now the first company in the Americas to be conferred the new Management and Operations ‘Stamp of Approval’ Award instituted by the Uptime Institute. The award is for those data center companies that are adept at handling management risks and sustaining data center uptime.
In a release, Julian Kudritzki, vice president of the Uptime Institute, LLC said, “As a global leader, Equinix’s participation in the coalition was invaluable, not only providing the necessary views from a data center service provider perspective, but helping to validate those behaviors that need to exist in data centers worldwide. As an international level data center provider, Equinix received an invitation from Uptime Institute last year to collaborate on the making of the M&O Program as one of 11 coalition members that came aboard to shape the program.”
Equinix was an important member of the Uptime Institute’s M&O Coalition which worked at developing the assessment criteria for their new Management and Operations (M&O) Program and Site Assessment Service. The Uptime Institute Management and Operations Program makes available an industry-based set of ground rules for operational as well as site management which is apart from Uptime’s Tier Certification, and serves as an independent party for validation of management and operations best practices.
John Shultz, vice president of Global Product Management and Development at Equinix said, “Equinix’s exceptional uptime is one of the most important reasons our customers choose us and our work with the Uptime Institute helps us become even stronger in the critical area of management and operations.”
The M&O Assessment authenticates the critical facilities management and operations practices of a data center in operation and offers an independent assurance that the site management is up to industry-recognized criteria for 24x7 uptime. All who meet these criteria are presented with the Uptime Institute M&O Site Award.
