Backup Company eTegrity Introduces New On-Demand, Remote Worker & Other Solutions

October 05, 2010

Online data backup and restoration outfit eTegrity has come out with a variety of new solutions, which it is talking about at MSPWorld this week in Los Angeles. The event is collocated with ITEXPO, a TMC event.

Among the news is the introduction of Virtual Office, a new client computing in the cloud solution. The product, which became available on Monday, allows eTegrity’s managed service provider customers to deliver services that enable their customers to store and access data securely, but without having to make the capital investment in on-site storage infrastructure and the related management that goes with it. Instead, Virtual Office allows MSPs’ customers to pay for storage based on their specific needs.

Steve Ferman, president of eTegrity, says that in addition to providing the technology to deliver such solutions, his company also works with its channel partners to help them understand what their clients need, and supports those customers 24x7.

Also new from eTegrity is a solution that enables enterprise customers to backup laptops in the field whenever they’re connected to the Internet. That’s important considering the number of workers that do their jobs while away from traditional offices. Research firm IDC predicts that 1.2 billion employees, about a third of the global workforce, will be using mobile enterprise tools by next year.

The company also recently has unveiled a local only backup solution, which enables resellers to manage the lifecycle management of data without sending it to the cloud, and a local server turn up service, which can restore an instance of a customer server in the case of a non-catastrophic event.

Ferman of eTegrity, a three-year-old company that sells through the channel, adds that one key thing customers need to understand is that while backing up data is important, that alone is not the answer to their disaster recovery requirements. Also key, he adds, is how quickly they can get up and running and back in business should data recovery be required. eTegrity helps them do all that, and quickly.
