New Backup Disaster Recovery Appliance Offered by CharTec for MSPs

August 23, 2011

CharTec is offering a new continuity appliance that lets Managed Service Providers (MSPs) deploy backup and disaster recovery as a service.

The CharTec Backup Disaster Recovery (BDR) appliance is Intel-based. It provides backup, disaster recovery, and replicates virtual images to the cloud. There is also nightly self testing.

“We developed the CharTec BDR appliance based on our own MSP experience and our partners’ requests for a simple, reliable system that ensures their clients’ business continuity,” Alex Rogers, CEO of CharTec, said in a company statement.

The BDR appliance is installed at the MSP’s client site. It provides onsite data protection and data continuity offsite. CharTec also has round the clock U.S.-based help desk support.

The appliance is managed remotely. It provides rapid restoration of any backup image, at any time.

Deana Pizzo, CEO of IT Solutions of South Florida, said their company has started to switch clients’ backup appliance deployments to the CharTec solution for several reasons.

“It’s so intuitive that when we deploy a server onsite we can immediately virtualize it without requesting support,” Pizzo said. “If we have an issue, we have immediate phone support from qualified US-based technicians.”

“The CharTec BDR appliance eliminates the worry about whether a business can – and will – get back on their feet after a disaster,” adds John Pyron, president & CEO of Intelligent Business Network Solutions, based in Sacramento, Calif.

CharTec’s “Hardware as a Service” (HaaS) program also lets technology companies move to the level of MSPs. CharTec is launching the “custom-built” business continuity solution to MSPs this month, according to a report.
