MSP Ascent Data Providing Backup and Disaster Recovery for The Children's Home of Pittsburgh
December 20, 2011
The Children's Home of Pittsburgh & Lemieux Family Center has been supporting the health and well being of infants and children since 1893. The center has an important mission and requires a strong data backup and disaster recovery solution so its team can focus on their core services.
The Center has chosen Ascent Data, a provider of cloud computing, colocation, data encryption and disaster recovery and business continuity services, to meet its needs. Ascent will provide the Center with IT virtualization, digital data backup and disaster recovery services.
Using Ascent as a full-time extension of its existing team, the Center has implemented a full rebuild and virtualization of its IT infrastructure. They have also implemented remote digital daily backups using the Ascent DBR. The backups provide a cost-effective IT Disaster Recovery Insurance policy for the Center should there be an emergency, server failure, data loss or human error.
By contracting with an MSP, the Family Center can focus on its core mission of providing services for infants and children and strengthening families. The Center includes living spaces to allow for special family time and to create a sense of comfort for the children and families served at the Center.
“We evaluated several vendors and selected Ascent Data for its excellent reputation, first-class data center and extensive experience working with healthcare providers,” said Pam Schanwald, CEO at The Children's Home.
“Through this generous gift, we have defrayed a portion of our IT infrastructure costs, allowing funds to be allocated to other critical patient services. There is peace of mind in knowing that Ascent Data's technical team is available around-the-clock when we need them, further enhancing patient care,” she added.
“It's our privilege to work with the tremendous team at The Children's Home and to provide critical IT services in support of their mission to care for our region's children,” said Steve Shangold, CEO at Ascent Data.
In addition to backup and data recovery solutions, Ascent offers a number of managed services, including encryption of data-in-motion, remote digital data backup and cloud computing solutions.
The company offers a secure, SAS 70 Type II Certified data center in O'Hara Township, near Pittsburgh.
