Timico Technology Group Bags Redwood

February 13, 2012

Timico Technology Group Ltd., a well-known managed services provider, just bought unified communications firm Redwood Telecommunications Ltd. The announcement came a few days ago from Timico. The combination might cause a sudden uptick in the services offered by Timico in the coming months, integrating unified communications with its MSP services.

Redwood has been working tirelessly since 1992 to offer businesses new and competitive technologies for corporate voice and data communication, particularly for businesses in the financial, professional, insurance, and media sectors. It operated chiefly in the United Kingdom, but also had clients abroad, which now became Timico's clients. Redwood offers products developed with Mitel and Avaya IP for conference rooms and call centers.

Chairman Tim Radford of Timico Technology Group said, “The acquisition of Redwood is an exciting step forward for Timico. Redwood has a solid heritage in unified communications, a London office and a strong relationship with its customers. The expertise and breadth of IP telephony and unified communication services that Redwood offers will complement the mobile, data networking and hosting expertise we have elsewhere in the group. There is a strong cultural fit and its London base will enable Timico to build a presence in this important market.”

Right now, Redwood has 28 people on board in its London headquarters, all of them working around the clock to provide customer support in their call center. It also has engineers on the field that help customers with issues, often working with companies like General Mills, Clarksons plc, Glasses Direct, Jimmy Choo, and Broadgate Estates.

Co-founder of Redwood Charlie Whelpton will continue to hold a managerial position in the company, since Redwood will be a subsidiary of Timico Technology Group. Regarding Timico's acquisition of his company, he said, “We are extremely excited about integrating our skills and expertise into the Timico group, to extend the range of services Timico offers to its customers. In turn we can see the enormous potential to offer Timico's extensive products and services set within our client base. Both companies share a strong customer service ethic and the geographical blend will enable Timico and Redwood to extend their reach.”

Timico just cut the ribbon on its new data center, a tier III facility based in Newark, which will give companies hosting for their IT services.
